Ohio

watch list Watch list — monitoring for future regulation

Ohio is being monitored for emerging AI regulatory developments. Legislation is under development or proposed but not yet enacted or enforceable.

Monitoring details

  • Status: House Bill 96 enacted ~2025 — requires Ohio Dept. of Education to develop model AI policy for schools by Dec. 31, 2025; mandates districts/schools adopt policies. Obligations fall primarily on public schools and state agency.
  • Signals: Similar pattern to Idaho SB 1227 — binding but directed at public education institutions. Evaluate whether vendor/deployer obligations flow to private-sector AI providers.
  • Trajectory: Promote if confirmed to create ongoing private-sector compliance obligations. Otherwise exclude as wrong-audience (E4).
